Fall is by far my favourite season (Christmas is my favourite time of year but that doesn’t count). Fall to me is comfort and homemaking, cooking and baking, lounging and cuddling, hugging and kissing… It’s just my favourite! It’s cool enough to wear my favourite sweaters but not so cold that I don’t want to go outside. Sadly, this fall I’m back to working outside of the home. Last fall I was working from home and that allowed me to spend as many hours as I wanted in the kitchen. Now, I need to be more efficient when it comes to my cooking. Enter: the slow cooker. Nothing says “life is good” quite like coming home to a meal that’s been slowly cooking while you’re out working your tail off.
See below for the top ten Slow Cooker recipes that I can’t wait to make this fall. These recipes specifically highlight comforting flavors that compliment cooler weather and what I think of when I’m ready to let go of the summer salads and fish tacos. Come on leaves… Start falling! Start orange-ing!
Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken and Veggies
The beauty of this recipe is that it’s EXTRA easy to prepare. All Slow Cooker recipes are simple to cook because once you have everything in there you set it and forget it. But what’s especially great about this recipe is that aside from halving a few baby potatoes, no chopping! That’s what I’m looking for when I’m preparing dinner at 6:00am.

Healthy Slow Cooker Butter Chicken
I LOVE Butter Chicken. Especially right now. I’m have a legitimate MOMENT with Butter Chicken. I want it twice a week but… Traditional (and likely what you’re getting from take out) Butter Chicken is very rich… Read: high in fat and calories. I can’t wait to try this healthy spin on one of my favourite dishes.

Slow Cooker Thick & Chunky Beef Stew
Beef Stew is one of those things that I don’t really care for unless the mood strikes me justtttt right. And then it’s all I can think of. When the weather cools down and I want to be warmed up from the inside out, nothing quite does it like soup. And a thick, chunky beef stew that’s perfectly salted with veggies cooked to the perfect tenderness does the trick like no other.

Crockpot Paleo Chicken with Butternut Squash, Pears, and Cranberries
Now hold on a minute. When I read “paleo” I think “Merp. This is gonna taste lame” but then I read through the ingredients and my mouth starts to water. The ingredients in this recipe are so quintessentially Fall that I’m pretty sure a festive orange, yellow, brown leafy wreath magically appears on your front door when this is cooking. Also, it’s a pretty “clean” recipe so it will make up for the buttery potatoes you may serve with it. I can’t wait to give this a shot.

Slow Cooker Chicken Bacon Ranch Pasta
Changing gears here to something more indulgent. Put the words “bacon” and “ranch” in your recipe title and there’s a 96% chance I’ll pin that bad boy. I get excited thinking about this cooking while I’m working away on a Friday. This sounds so good that I won’t even be tempted to eat out like I typically get the urge to on Fridays. Who needs take out when you have hot cooked indulgent recipes at your disposal? Especially when they cook themselves…

Crockpot Chicken and Stuffing
I know I said that Butternut Squash/Cranberry/Pear/Chicken recipe was quintessential Fall but that’s because I forgot about STUFFING! In the past, I’ve only enjoyed stuffing at Christmas and Thanksgiving. Knowing now that I can come home from work and enjoy the flavors of Christmas dinner any day of the week… Well, frankly, I’m not even sure I can compose myself enough to finish writing this post. Serve this with some mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce and you’re golden!

Slow Cooker Ritz Chicken
This recipe reminds me of my favourite “Chicken Pillow” recipe. This has “comfort” written all over it and I can’t wait to give it a go. The creamy soup mixture topped with crunchy Ritz crackers is the kind of thing I dream about when I want something indulgent but home cooked. This paired with some brown sugar glazed carrots or crunchy corn would be amazing!

Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak
I have never tried Salisbury Steak. Not in a slow cooker, not baked, not fried, not any way but I’m excited to try it. And we all know how much I love the slow cooker so that seemed like the best place to start. This seems like one of those slow cooker recipes that takes a bit more prep time but I’m very excited to try it out nonetheless.

Bourbon Chicken in the Crock Pot
You want me to put booze in my slow cooker? Okay… If you say so… This recipe looks so simple to cook but PACKED with flavor. That is my favorite recipe combo ever. If you give me something that’s easy but sends my taste buds into overdrive, well then you’ve got yourself a friend for life in me. The sauce recipe has about 10 ingredients but they’re all pantry staples so that’s alright.

Crock Pot Rice Pudding
I saved the one I’m most excited to try for last. Maybe this is cheating because you were expecting ten dinner recipes but to be fair, I never said that and when you assume… Well, anyway! I don’t feel bad including a dessert because this rice pudding looks like magic in a bowl. Does it get more “fall” than warm, sweet, cinnamon-y rice pudding? Well maybe if it had pumpkin in it (#pumpkinspiceeverything). I’m also having a moment with rice pudding right now. I tried a recipe that was a bit of a fail so I am so excited to give this a shot. I think the this slow cooker method will be a winner!
