I really love my kitchen as far as the aesthetic but when it comes to space, it’s lacking. I have minimal cupboard space, drawer space, and counter space. It has awkward angles and really high cupboards. I love the space and light that frees up on my counter but it means I need a step stool for anything beyond the second shelf even though I am 5’9″…
Today I’m going to share with you the top 12 best small kitchen solutions I could find on Pinterest. The best part? These are all EASY small kitchen hacks! Cheap Kitchen DIYs that will help you save space, be more organized which will save you time on busy mornings and won’t make your wallet sad.
Magnetic Spice Rack
This is such a great idea to clear out the clutter that is spices! I have so much space in my kitchen cabinet being taken up by unorganized spices. What makes them even harder to organize is the fact that I have spices from all different brands. It’s hard to organize tins, bags, glass jars, etc. This is going to be my first project but I think that instead of doing it in my cupboard (because mine are high), I will do this on the side of my fridge!

Under the Sink Pocket Organizer
I’m going to be honest. As simple as this DIY looks, it still looks out of MY comfort zone. With that said, I am determined to find a pre-made one for less than $20 because this is a simple and effective space saving hack that I need to implement. If you know your way around a sewing machine (or even a needle & thread) then give the DIY a shot!

Paper Sorter Freezer Shelves
This whole article is full of amazing ways to organize with paper sorters/paper trays but what caught my eye the most was how to use paper sorters as instant freezer shelves! I always wish I had a deep freezer but I simply don’t have the space (we’re condo living!) but this is a genius way to maximize your freezer space!

Hang Kitchen Utensils
Pro: this tip is genius, will clear counter/drawer space, and it’s super easy. Con: this tip “forces” me to buy all new matching beautiful kitchen utensils. Not that that really should matter but I’m definitely a creature that wants to hide away ugly. I really love the functionality and simplicity of this DIY space saver.

Kitchen Sink Tip Outs
This one requires some labour but the end result is awesome. My grandma had a tip out underneath her kitchen sink and I always thought it was so genius. To be honest, I am personally not up for the challenge to create an actual tip out BUT I love the little “cubbies” shown here. If I’m feeling really extra non-committal, I might give this a shot with Command hooks rather than drilling holes into my cupboard doors.

Under Sink Tension Rod
I’ve learnt that I am drawn to non-committal “projects”. Non-permanent organization hacks that don’t “wreck” your existing fixtures. This one is great for that. It is simply using a tension rod to hang your cleaning spray bottles. It’s simple and effective. My favorite.
Under Sink Cleaning Supplies Organization
This is seriously cool! One of those things I didn’t realize I needed until seeing. Well, now I’ve seen and now I need. This is still beyond my level of DIY capabilities but I bet my grandpa would help me out…
DIY Tablet/Recipe Holder
Foil/Plastic Wrap Solution
I’m not sure how much space this saves but regardless, this easy DIY is COOL! I wonder if I could get a cleaner tear with keeping my foil and plastic wrap this way… I’m always failing at that.

Hide Your Charging Gadgets
Though this isn’t the most simple DIY to execute, I think it’s worth sharing because if you are able to implement this in your kitchen, you will be saving yourself a healthy amount of counter space. Which, for a messy cook like me, is most beneficial!

Organize Your Pantry
Now I know this “hack” isn’t revolutionary but I can’t stress enough how much organization frees up space. Organizing your pantry in bins allows you store things on top of each other. When dealing with a small kitchen, that is crucial!

And Your Kitchen Drawers
Again, so simple but sometimes it takes actually seeing something to understand how necessary it is. I never really thought to organize my drawers this way but seeing this image, I understand the importance. You could never get all those items into that drawer without appropriately compartmentalizing and organizing them with bins. Bins are our friends.

Use Wasted Vertical Space
Not only does this small kitchen hack save you space, it looks really pretty. This is the same idea as an earlier point but this hack shows how you can declutter your drawers by storing smaller utensils (measuring cups and spoons) on the inside of your cupboard doors.
Hang from the inside of your cupboard doors.
