I can’t even tell you how much I love apple crumble. There’s just something about the warm gooey apples mixed with crunchy crumble topping that makes my mouth very, very happy. And it works out nicely because it’s my guy’s favorite dessert! He could never get sick of me making it!
Which is why I’m writing about this very fall-inspired dessert in May. In fact, I actually made it on Mother’s Day and my mom loved it!
Now, this recipe is a bit different because it is a crumb cake. And let me tell you… It is amazing! I might even like it MORE than traditional apple crumble because it has an extra texture to it: an amazing cake layer (2, actually) which is to die for. There’s just simply not much to say about this recipe other than it’s amazing and if you like apple crumble, you’re going to be OBSESSED with this.
Oh, and the drizzle… SO GOOD!
I can’t wait to make this again and am looking for any excuse. Although it might be awhile because we’re trying to be a bit healthier in this house right now… But c’mon. You should know me well enough by now to know that there’s always some room for dessert. Everything in moderation, right?
Okay. Now on to the good stuff!
How I strayed from the recipe:
- I actually used a loaf pan. It baked perfectly fine, however it was a bit of a mess trying to get it out of there. If you have a spring pan, (like the recipes calls for) use that.
- I unfortunately didn’t have any apple cider so I subbed out milk for the icing
What I would do differently next time:
Use apple cider in the icing and use the kind of pan that the recipe calls for.
I baked mine for 38 minutes. Using the loaf pan required a bit longer of a baking time.
Is this recipe making it in to my recipe binder? Yes!!
Dude approved? Very much so. He would eat this stuff for breakfast everyday if he could!
